There are 2 bars here, one in reception and one by the pool, although at the time we visited only the pool bar was staffed. Big thanks to Gabriel, who worked on this bar for the thoroughly excellent service - we called him the undercover boss! He was really helpful with any queries we had and speaks really good English as well as other languages. Check out the cocktail menu here! The pool had just been filled when we arrived and was cold at first but warmer as the week went on. We had no problem getting a sun bed but it was early season and there were not many occupants of the hotel - you might struggle in high season. The location of the hotel was good for us - in between Sunny Beach and Nessebar and the beach a very short stroll away. I would recommend a visit to Old Nessebar (walking there took around 45 mins) it’s got lots of ruins and is a lovely place to walk around and pass the time of day. Sunny Beach is lively and it was around a 15-20 minute walk to the main strip. There was no entertainment when we stayed, which was fine for us, but some families with young children were a bit disappointed about this. Overall we had a great stay and would certainly return to this hotel if we came back to the area. More

Main resort is about 20 mins walk away however on the way plenty of bars and shops. Due to being a smaller hotel getting a sunbed wasn't really an issue. Pool side bar very good. Hotel itself very pretty and relaxing, very very clean and the staff were ALL fabulous. My children loved the little park and pool (ages 3, 7 and 13) - spent most days playing in. We came at the very beginning of the season so was quiet at first. Met some lovely people which is a bonus.
All staff where fab! Can I say a special thank you to . the cleaners (my children are messy) also to Gabriel who we all miss already and he was soo brilliant for us all, made ace cocktails . Thank you to the reception staff for been so helpful and welcoming. Thank you management for arranging my sons birthday cake and thanks to the chefs and restaurant staff- food was always so so nice and lots of choice. The best part that you have such a nice staff. Always polite administrators, managers and security.

Which for me is a big plus because a sincere smile can actually boost your entire mood. A special mention would be for the 3 guys that really made our stay better: Gabriel, the bartender from the pool bar who is, hands down, an amazing company and serves great cocktails.
Nikolay, the chef, whom i always greeted and who managed to put a smile on my face everyday (my dad rated his grilled vegetables 10/10 and i really enjoyed his pancakes haha).
And Boris, the kids entertainer, with whom my sister joked around and played table tennis near the pool.
As for the property itself, the pool is just the right size. The variety of food was more than enough, you will surely find something to your liking. Clean restaurant, clean rooms, clean everything! Daily cleaning service, towels changed daily as well. Spacious apartment with a nice balcony.
In conclusion, Rome Palace did meet our expectations and i, for sure, will come back in the future!
If you make it to the hotel, make sure to smile and be kind, they deserve it! Nice holiday everyone!

The entertainment staff again brilliant including everyone and creating fun, a special mention for Mimi who made our stay!
What let's this could be 4* hotel down is the food, sadly it was mostly cold, lots of reheated leftovers and unimaginative bland repetitive options. The salad was always good and lots of attractive desserts. But both my husband and I had the Bulgarian trots twice and speaking to other guests so did several other families/groups You cannot keep pork and chicken and rice at the wrong temperatures and reheating is not recommended by British food safety experts.
This could have been a top quality hotel if it hadn't been let down by the approach to the food, maybe due to it being the end of their season or maybe I am being too generous, either way we will never know as we will not be returning. More

Whether it was the food or not we will never know but it certainly wasn't hot and even straight from the 'hot plates' it was luke-warm if you were lucky. The choice was very limited and repetitive so after 5 nights and a long date with the toilet we ate elsewhere.
Now for the lobby bar!! At an all-inclusive hotel you expect to be served whenever you choose. No. They are more interested in wearing headphones, playing on their phones and smoking fags outside the hotel entrance. If you are lucky enough to catch one they huff and puff when you dare to ask for a drink and my god! If you ask for 2 glasses of wine and they only have 1 clean wine glass left!! They make you uncomfortable and as though you are a complete burden to them.
On our second last night we went out for food as usual (the Chinese restaurant is fabulous) and came back to to hotel for a few drinks before going to bed. We got chatting to a few of the other guests whom we'd gotten to know and the lobby bar staff decided to go home early! After the shock of that, the night reception lad (mosquite pest) told us off for taking too loud!! He said he'd had a complaint from another guest which is complete rubbish because the lobby bar is nowhere near the rooms. He said if we didn't be quiet he would inform security! Remember, we are a family with 2 small children so hardly living the hedonistic Ibiza lifestyle.
We were made to feel like criminal outcasts by a 'fully inclusive' hotel that we had spent a lot of money on.
If it wasn't for Bobby the pool bar bartender and the lovely cleaning ladies we'd have completely lost faith in anything Bulgarian.
Plan a stay here if you are prepared to pay extra to eat out every night and enjoy being spoken to like muck. More

The beach is about 200 metres from the hotel, again very clean, lifeguards on duty, and very efficient.
To get to the beach exit the gate by the resteraunt, straight ahead and go through the arch labelled "Hidden" (its the name of a bar on the beach) there is a wooden walkway to the beach,so if you have a pram life is easier to get beach side,.
Now to the food--this is where the Hotel falls down badly, there is very little variety, all food that was supposed to be hot was cold and it spoilt the holiday as even the salads were not up to much, how people say the food was great is beyond me.
The staff are quite surly hardly ever smile and it seemed to us they did not want to be there, the exception was Boby at the pool bar, smiling and chatty, maybe the Management should teach their staff to smile, and at least say hello once in a while.
A couple of tips:
There is a 24 hr supermarket outdide front door turn left and 50 yards, sells fags, food drink.
Try to get to Nessebar old town, you can catch a bus outside the hotel and it casts 1.30 lev (65p) one way well worth the visit.

If you go shopping take a few 1 lev coins, they have sort of "public" toilets but it costs you1 lev to acess Overall good Hols, good hotel but food rubbish More
